
Brandon Blackstock, the 48-year-old former talent manager and ex-husband of singer Kelly Clarkson, passed away on August 7, 2025, at his home in Butte, Montana. He died after a three-year battle with melanoma, a form of skin cancer, under hospice care and surrounded by his family .
Brandon was born on December 16, 1976, in Fort Worth, Texas, and spent his early years in Burleson, Texas, before moving to Big Piney, Wyoming, for high school. He later moved to Nashville to pursue a career in the music industry .
In his final years, Brandon embraced a quieter life in Montana, living on a ranch in Butte with his partner, Brittney Marie Jones, who had previously been Kelly Clarkson’s assistant. Together, they co-founded the Headwaters Livestock Auction and the Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana .
Brandon is survived by his four children: River and Remington, whom he shared with Kelly Clarkson, and Seth and Savannah, from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth. His brother, Shelby Blackstock, paid tribute to him on Instagram, calling him a bright and cherished family member .
A funeral service was held on August 17, 2025, in Butte, Montana, to celebrate Brandon’s life and legacy.
